I hope you are still writing things like this. I hope you are well. I hope that you become stronger than I am right now. And I hope, most of all, that you’ve got what we’ve always wanted— and if not, I hope you still have that burning desire in your heart like I do have right now.
As you can see, I have many hopes for you. After everything you’ve done in the past, I have the perfect view to watch you.
I know your determination.
Also, I know the beginning of your journey. I see you become proud enough to ignore the people you love. I see you fail countless times. I see you compare yourself to others.
I see how you keep on trying to climb the mountain, alone. You refuse to accept help because you want to prove something. You dream to be somebody. You want to have your own name on higher places.
You’re so ambitious.
You’d been broken to pieces. It was devastating to see you like that.
Until He came. Do you remember? Well, I know you do.
I know you’ll never forget that moment when a Savior finally came to your rescue.
He came in a very grim moment of your life. The moment when you admitted that you were never enough. You figured out that the mountain you were climbing was a mountain of pride that could never be satisfied. Then, this Man — this Man that they call the Messiah — helped you. But He didn’t help you climb that mountain; He crashed it to pieces in front of you.
I saw the great things you did with Him. He was never out of the picture. I saw Him help you to forgive an enemy. I saw Him guide you on how to be kind to others. I observed how He taught you to speak His truth. I saw you fail and feel glad about it. You even called it a learning process — something He teaches you along the way.
He was indeed the Messiah — a Savior not too early nor too late.
The Savior beyond time.
I have faith in Him that you will keep those memories in your heart until you read this letter.
At this moment, I am honestly afraid. I am afraid of the unknown. You know, the usual.
I just want to encourage you because I know, at times, you are afraid too.
That’s fine. We just need to be reminded by the Messiah that everything happens for His glory, and He delivers us from all trouble. He holds our hand as He leads us on to something wonderful. We’ve seen His works. You and I can testify to His great plan.
I believe this plan is not yet finished.
Only you can answer if it is already fulfilled, or if you are still waiting. Are you still waiting? Nah, don’t answer.
Don’t spoil His surprise.
I also wanted to remind you, ‘cause I quite feel that you might be facing far greater challenges than I am, that you just need to hold on to His promises.
He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Be strong and courageous.
You know what? After saying all that to you, I remember that you can do this. I know that you will keep on holding on to His words. I know that, when you fail, His comfort will be your guide.
When the time comes that you are about to give up, remember that moment at the mountain where you saw Him.
His greatness and love saved us both simultaneously from the punishment of pride.
Future me, I hope by the time you read this letter, you can say that everything you’ve been through has been worth it. Because it is. And if, until then, you are still facing another mountain, I hope you are equipped with a testimony.
Your testimony — that all the hardship is past, and there is joy in the morning.
Improve your future by learning from your past. The Lord gave you a purpose, and you’re gonna have to live with it. I know — no matter what happens to me (it’s already happened to you) — I will completely rely on His promises.
I know how you will be, because I know how I am compared to how I was — wiser and stronger. Most of all, I am closer to Him who created me and called me to be in relationship with Him.
Literally you,
Me
Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6, KJV)
